Doug has over 30 years of successful experience as a business leader, technologist, and serial entrepreneur.
As the founder and first CEO of Black Duck Software, he built a company that solved the challenges of safely using open source code in commercial products from a licensing compliance and security standpoint. (Black Duck was acquired by Synopsys in 2017.)
Levin also founded or co-founded six other companies and he holds four software patents.
Today Doug is an Executive-in-Residence (EIR) at the Harvard Business School and mentor for the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund and MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service.
He serves as a Board member for ReversingLabs, a cybersecurity firm, DJ MicroLaminates, an advanced materials manufacturer and Carbon Relay as a board observer.
He serves as an advisor to AlmaPact, Prescient Devices, Wabbi, ZyloTech, the VC-firm Mendoza Ventures, and other startup companies. Earlier in his career, Doug held senior management positions at Microsoft over a nine-year period.
